The SPDDC is a nonprofit real estate venture created by the St. Paul Downtown Alliance in early 2025 to spearhead large-scale investment in the core of the Capital City. So Minnesota: Twin Cities cemetery connected to legendary architect
2+ week, 2+ day ago (146+ words) One Twin Cities cemetery has a connection to a legendary architect. "We are home to two of Cass Gilbert's incredible architectural genius'," Executive Director Amanda Thoreson said. The cemetery hired Gilbert, then a rising architect, to design the buildings."He was an up-and-comer from an architectural standpoint, so I think it made the most sense that he put another stamp in Minnesota, Thoreson said." Opened in 1904, the character of the chapel is derived from Medieval English country church architecture. "We want families to feel comfort when they come in and we want them to feel at home, Thoreson said. Gilbert went on to design several significant buildings, including the Minnesota State Capitol and the Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C....

1+ week, 3+ day ago (377+ words) On the eve of Give to the Max Day, Minnesota nonprofits worry they won't get the donations they count on this year. Last year, the annual day of charitable giving brought in a record $37.1 million for more than 6,500 organizations. In 2025, nonprofits have reported an increase in the need for their services, just as people have less to give to keep the services running. Former soccer star Tony Sanneh started the Sanneh Foundation to offer youth and family resources. When asked, Sanneh said he has noticed a change in people's charitable giving habits over the last year or so, adding that donations have dropped, while demand for the Sanneh Foundation's services has grown. "Yeah, you know, I think it's a reflection on the economy," he said. Asked if the foundation has seen fewer people donating or the same group of individuals…...
